This is the english version of the french site "Pierres Romanes". We hope that there are not too many mistakes in this translation. At this time, only few pages are translated.

Today, the Romanesque art gives us an extraordinary heritage of architecture and sculptures. In the 11th and 12th century, France, as the Western Europe, saw rise a multitude of churches, that still gives rhythm to the landscape. The Romanesque stones, today, are the sublime glows of the medieval civilization. But if the Romanesque art concerns us and appears to us so modern, it is because it expresses some universal preoccupations: the one of the human spirituality, but also his confrontation to the violence, the links between the visual, shapes and the message...

Curiously, in the Southwest France, the Romanesque stones bloomed as in a garden: this heritage is a high quality and a marvelous profusion.

The Cosei company published this site from 1997 to the beginning of 2003. At this time, Cosei transferred the site to "Parole et Patrimoine", a non profit organization.
